Answer: Presentation: The Business Intelligence or BI is a sweeping term alluding to the procedures, techniques, information, applications specialized models and advances. The advanced environment is the gathering of big business, things or people autonomously sharing computerized stage (Hnel and Felden 2014). The shared advantages earned from the client driven computerized biological system like the normal premium, development and business gain has been required to be surveyed. The accompanying report talks about the purposes behind advancement of business insight venture. The results are additionally broke down on the developing enchanted clients of computerized environment concentrating on client centricity. Explanations behind the improvement of Business Intelligence venture: In the present universe of enormous rivalry, the client has been the entrance to productivity with the general achievement of an association. Subsequently the business knowledge center points have been picking up fame quickly among the associations that has been client driven. The advancement of business-insight center points has been seeming well and good in this universe of information driven client assistance (Bukhari and Kazi 2016). Be that as it may, it has been a befuddling and testing approach. The huge information has been as of now in the whole frenzy. The current examination scene has been immense, particularly in the business of client encounters. The contact community has been the most measurement driven segment of any undertaking as a bleeding edge towards the client. The thought that has helped in planning the accomplishment to make a center point for business insight has been simply the association. Further, the innovation arrangements, usage plan and merchants are additionally thought of (Camilleri 2016). In the association finding the need of business knowledge precisely catching each client has been required. It has been further urgent to put resources into the arrangements totaling data from different sources. While arranging a business insight venture, the picking the way guaranteeing achievement has been significant under the usage. In conclusion, the sellers like experts, advisors and researchers helps in sending alternatives and bring outside points of view. The client driven BI systems have been business driven where specific business degrees to use BI have been looked for in advance. In the client driven computerized environment, the associations receive the methodology for recognizing ways that BI could be used in the business procedure. This aides in increment incomes and decreases costs. The prioritization of the open doors for BI for execution is finished. This aides in sorting out individuals around BI advancement ventures. It builds up the endeavor information distribution center around steadily around the information mixes. This further puts resources into empowering influences like information administration and acing information the executives on the scale expected to back-up the guide. This has been revealing the uses of BI with ventures developing quickly (Baur et al. 2014). Another explanation has been focusing on BI applications in filling the needs of known business. This has been done in collusion with the information co nveyed without very much determined utilizations of BI for the information as a top priority. The key contention of the methodology has been creating business esteem from the crude information. The information has been depending totally on the sending of the uses of BI in the center procedures. This has made distinction in the operational and financial outcomes. Another rationale has been conveying the applications has not been depending after having full scale adaptations of each essential structure squares (Gupta, Khanna and Kim 2014). An instrument has been available to log each correspondence of clients in all client driven BI frameworks (Kisielnicki and Misiak 2016). This has been available as the client information serving adequately at the necessities of the client for additional activities in business. From the fifty thousand foot see, the business works all the more successfully as their capacities are sufficient to control the necessities of creation for tasks. The clients require business sustaining, support and consideration. So as to make a large portion of the capacities of business and drive self-supporting activities, the organizations has been selecting a technique that is ability based. The capacity centered arranging fulfills the needs of the clients effectively as a BI arrangement. It has empowered the business to rely on its individual capacity to convey administrations and items sold by them (Williams 2014). The business has had the option to use and reutilize the cutout strategies with this capacity centered methodology. It has result in effective foundation of the capacities in new auxiliaries, compatible, specialty units and the vertical coordination draws near. For example any business improvement counseling organization may choose for sub-branch into little markets the Center for Technology and Business or Center for Business Excellence based on its capacity of help from program the executives. The procedure further keeps on engendering the client driven BI for new usage of business capacities. This consequently centers around the clients. The augmenting of the business by the methodology has made the capacities of the business convenient. The procedure uses deals models and the attempts to seal the deal demonstrated as of now at the client information level. It additionally creates rehash deals with the current clients and late deals with the potential clients (Laursen and Thorlund 2016). The business has had the option to use the system to force techniques for deals at whatever point and any place the extensions emerge, remembering the clients. It works like the standards of code reuse. End: The business knowledge has been utilized to prop up the introduction, assortment, dispersal and information investigation of the business data. The client driven is the way to deal with perform business giving positive experience to clients. There have been different plans to be thought about while setting out upon the excursion of business knowledge. The crucial angle to recollect is in regards to the less focus on investigation arrangement and progressively over the business points. The client driven procedure of BI has would in general addition increasingly ideal parity while the speculation gets the money for stream and returns. In any case, the client driven methodology of BI has been fundamental to deliberately control the client connections. Antigone Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Antigone - Essay Example p.). Obviously, there are numerous different issues present in this disaster; be that as it may, this paper would attempt to concentrate on the issue of laws, explicitly on what might have happened when there would be no harmony between the law of the divine beings and the law of man. For this situation, this paper would attempt to refer to various entries in the disaster that may help outline on how the law of the divine beings were treated with deference of the law man, and on what might be its impacts on Greek society as spoke to in the content. Body One of the principle introductions to the disaster was the common war that occurred in Thebes. The principle members in the common war, on which the victor would have the option to control the seat, were the siblings Polyneices and Eteocles (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.). Be that as it may, both Polyneices and Eteocles where really murdered in the common war, clearing a path for Creon to really involve the seat (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.). For this situation, Creon really proclaimed that Eteocles would be regarded while Polyneices would be openly mortified through denying him of internment, leaving his body to worms and vultures (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.). ... gh covering her alive in the cavern (which was in opposition to the law of the divine beings), beginning the discussion of Antigone and Creon on which law should really be adhered to, the law of man (which is Creon’s law) or the law of the divine beings (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.). As indicated by Antigone, the law of Creon must not be followed and that she has the ethical commitment to cover the body of her sibling in spite of it being in opposition to the law given by him, given that such sort of law really runs in opposition to the laws of the divine beings, making the pronouncement of Creon ethically degenerate and against the desire of the divine beings (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.). As indicated by Antigone, Yes; for it was not Zeus that had distributed me that proclamation; not such are the laws set among men by the equity who neither abides with the divine beings beneath; nor regarded I that thy orders were of such power, that a human could abrogate the unwritten a nd unfailing rules of heaven†¦Not through fear of any human pride might I be able to reply to the divine beings for breaking these. Kick the bucket I mustâ€I realized that well (in what manner should I not?)â€even without thy declarations. Yet, in the event that I am to kick the bucket before my time, I check that an addition: for when any one lives†¦can such any one discover nothing however gain in death? So for me to meet this fate is piddling misery; however on the off chance that I had endured my mom's child to lie in death an unburied cadaver, that would have lamented me; for this, I am not lamented. What's more, if my current deeds are stupid in thy sight, it might be that an absurd appointed authority summons my habit. (â€Å"Antigone† n. p.) Despite such contentions by Antigone, nonetheless, Creon despite everything stood ground in the law that he made, and even reinforced acquiescence to the law by making a harsher discipline for Antigone (â€Å"Anti gone† n. p.). For this situation, Creon really contemplated that there is no man that must be above law, or must

Credit Card Cash Advances Can Flag You as Risky

Credit Card Cash Advances Can Flag You as Risky Credit Card Cash Advances Can Flag You as Risky Credit Card Cash Advances Can Flag You as RiskyTaking out too many cash advances can hurt your customer profile with your credit card company. If you’ve ever needed money in a hurry, you may have used your credit card to take out a cash advance. But you also may have heard that taking out too many cash advances on your credit card could flag you as a risky borrower. While a cash advance may present itself as a nice perk of your credit card, here are some risks you should consider before punching in your code at the ATM.Cash advances vs. standard credit card purchasesWhen you spend money on a credit card, the amount you spend is added to your open balance on the card. After a 30-day grace periodâ€"which is standard on most traditional cardsâ€"you will start to accrue interest on that purchase. With regular credit card transactions, money doesn’t change hands; you swipe your card, and money exchanges electronically. But with a credit card cash advance, you can use your card to take ou t physical cash from an ATMâ€"and the amount you withdraw is added to your open balance. There are a couple other key differences between credit card cash advances and regular credit card transactions. For one, most cards charge a cash advance fee, usually a few dollars or a small percentage of the amount you withdraw, whichever is higher. That fee is also added to your open balanceâ€"similar to when you are charged a cash withdrawal fee at an ATM.Next, your card has a separate cash advance limit that’s smaller than your total credit limit on the card. This means you are limited to how much money you can withdraw through a cash advance. Cash advances also come with a different, higher annual percentage rate (APR) from your normal transactions, making the relative cost of an advance even higher.Last, credit card cash advances do not usually come with any kind of grace period. The moment the transaction hits your open balance, it starts accruing interest. Will credit card cash advance s get you flagged? You will not be penalized for taking out a cash advance any more than you would be for simply spending more money on your card. Credit card cash advances are simply recorded on your credit report as a change in your credit card balance. However, credit card cash advances can get you flagged by your credit card company. If they see that you are taking out a lot of cash advances, their credit model could flag you as a riskier borrower. This will limit the kinds of perks and benefits you receive on that cardâ€"and it could lead to your total cost of credit increasing.Monica Eaton-Cardone, owner COO of Chargebacks911, laid out how too many cash advances taken out on your card can affect your standing as a customer, especially if you can’t pay back the amount you borrow:“Simply, if you cant afford the amount withdrawn from your account and arent able to pay it off within a couple of months, youll be classified as a riskier borrower,” she said. “Any form of deli nquency will increase the perception of risk, as lenders dont trust individuals who cant fulfill their current financial responsibilities.”The relationship between cash advances and credit scoresWhile credit card cash advances don’t have a direct effect on your credit score, irresponsible credit card use is a big reason why people end up with bad credit, relying on no credit check loans and payday loans to get by when they have an unexpected bill or expense.“If you decide to get an advance, make sure you will have enough to cover the interest and cash advance fee within a reasonable timeframe,” said Eaton-Cardone. Also, if you receive something in the mail that says credit card checks, understand these are not the same as standard banking checks; these usually are treated as cash advances. There are two factors that make up almost two-thirds of your total credit score: Your payment history, which comprises 35 percent of your score, and your total amounts owed, which makes up an additional 30 percent. And a big part of your total amounts owed is your credit utilization ratio, which   measures how much of your total credit limits you are using. A person whose outstanding credit card balance is 80 percent of their total credit limit is not using credit as responsibly as someone who never spends more than 20 percent of their limit. To put it simply: Using credit card cash advances regularly means borrowing more money at higher rates than normal, both increasing your total debt load and your cost of borrowing. That is a recipe for tanking your credit utilization ratio, which will, in turn, tank your credit score. And if those additional loads lead to you paying your bills late, the effect on your score will be even worse. Even one late payment can really hurt your credit score. Cash advances can be useful if you are truly in a “cash-only” jam, but, but before you borrow the money, be wary of the true and total cost.  |  InstagramContributorsMonica Eaton-Ca rdone is the owner, cofounder, and chief operating officer of Chargebacks911, a global company dedicated to preventing chargeback fraud; eliminating cyber-shoplifting; and safeguarding the e-commerce experience for retailers, banks, buyers, and sellers. You may not care about what I am saying now, but lung cancer also occurs in people who never smoked t oo (Mayo clinic staff, 2015). Some people who have a family history of lung cancer or are exposed to radon gas are more likely to get cancer.. I hate to say this, but if you have any friends who smoke, please try to keep some distance. Not only can smoking cigarettes cause cancer, but inhaling cigarette smoke (or second hand smoke), which is full of cancer causing chemicals, can also cause substantial changes in the lung tissue (Mayo clinic staff, 2015). In order to diagnose a lung cancer, doctors recommend some tests, and I will tell you three tests. Imaging tests is where an x-ray image of your lungs may show an abnormal mass on nodule (Mayo clinic staff, 2015). Sputum Cytology a mixture of mucus and saliva coughed up, if you have a cough and are producing sputum, looking it under the microscope can sometimes show the presence of lung cancer cells (Mayo clinic staff, 2015). And the last test I will be telling you about is the Tissue Sample biopsy. A small sample of abnormal cells may be removed in a biopsy, which doctors can perform in a number of ways (Mayo clinic staff, 2015). Vulnerability Identification And Security Procedures Essay

Vulnerability Identification There are a variety of vulnerability identification factors that are seen as critical. The types of vulnerabilities associated with the Information Technology System depend on the nature of the system itself. Certain rules govern what action should be taken in this step. If the system has not yet been designed, the search for vulnerabilities should concentrate on the security policies of the organization, security procedures, system requirement definitions, vendor and developer’s product analysis. If the system is being implemented the identity of vulnerabilities should to expanded to include more specific information including security features described in the security documentation and results of the security certification test and evaluation. If the system is up and running, then the analysis of the IT system security features and security controls, technical and procedural should be used to protect the system. Science and Religion Free Essays

Science and Religion (SRP 420) Science and Religion–two disciplines that at first glance seem to be completely separate modes of thought. After more careful examination one comes to realize that they bump into each other often. Indeed, science and religion seem to have a complex history involving both conflict and resolution. We will write a custom essay sample on Science and Religion or any similar topic only for you Order Now Many theologians, philosophers, and scientists have developed theories on how science and religion can coexist. One such man is John Polkinghorne a scientist and philosopher; he has developed his own theory on the relationship between science and religion. In the first chapter of his book Quarks, Chaos, and Christianity Polkinghorne lays out his theory for the coexistence of science and religion. He begins by discussing the impressiveness of science and its many accomplishments. Next he goes on to discuss the truth of religion and challenges the claim that religion is simply a personal truth or an opinion, while science is fact. He quickly claims this statement is false, because making this conclusion would be a, â€Å"fundamental mistake of the most disastrous kind† (Polkinghorne, 2). This faulty conclusion about the integration of science and religion, according to Polkinghorne, has is often made because of two mistakes: about the basis of scientific knowledge and the other about religious belief. The general mistake that has been made about science is that it is a simple process in which a prediction is formulated, an experiment is performed, and presto a new discovery is made. In actuality there is much more involved in the art of scientific discovery. For instance, scientists often do not have pure facts, but rather they are dealing with knowledge that they must interpret for themselves. To interpret knowledge, according to Polkinghorne, is often quite difficult and requires one to formulate a point of view or an opinion in order to reach a conclusion. Choosing a point of view or having an opinion requires people to be bold and brave because they are betting things happen in a certain way. Therefore in science fact and opinion are constantly mixed up with one another. The major mistake people make in religion is that is that it involves a kind of â€Å"leap into the dark† (Polkinghorne, 10). While religion does involve faith and faith does sometimes require a leap, it is in no way a leap into the dark. Polkinghorne criticizes this theory by asking a variety of questions such as: what would be the purpose of religion if this were true? Why would anyone be religious if it involved such blind trust? (Polkinghorne, 2) Therefore, he concludes religion must be a leap of faith, but it is a leap into the light. The main point Polkinghorne is making here is that religion can only be of real value if it is actually true, otherwise he claims religion would simply only be a, â€Å"technique for whistling in the dark to keep our spirits up† (Polkinghorne, 14). The conclusion reached at the end of the argument is that science and religion are â€Å"intellectual cousins,† (Polkinghorne, 11) in that they are both searching for truth, but neither can say that they have achieved it and each must base its conclusions on an interaction between interpretation, experience, and opinion. They both also must always be open to corrections if mistakes are found, because they are part of a kind of wonderful human journey to understand and be in sync with the physical and spiritual world around us. Nevertheless, there are major differences between science and religion that cannot be overlooked, and Polikinghorne points out these differences. Essentially science is dealing with a physical world that we are able to poke and prod even if we cannot always see exactly what is happening. However, religion cannot be put to an experimental test in the same way that science can. Although science and religion are different in this way they are still both attempts to understand even if they go about in different ways. Overall, I think Polkinghorne offered a solid argument for the coexistence of science and religion. As a science major I really appreciate the fact that Polkinghorne is an inhabitant of both the scientific and religious community. Like Polkinghorne I agree with the argument that neither science nor religion can offer an ultimate understanding of the world around us, but if they work together in harmony it is possible that they will eventually be able to achieve a greater understanding. In considering science and religion one must understand that neither can tell you everything and believing that one form of knowing can tell you everything forces a person to take a very diminished view of life. In conclusion, Polkinghorne offers a simple and straightforward argument for how science and religion can exist together without contradiction. While the argument if fairly simple it is also effective and the main point is that science and religion are just different attempts to answer the same questions. Neither can answer these questions on their own to achieve greater understanding of the physical and spiritual world around us, both science and religion must be considered. Twan Essay Example For Students

Twan Essay Individuality: A Threat to Society, or a Gift to Society? By: Tim Movido As man has progressed through the ages, there has been, essentially, one purpose. That purpose is to arrive at a utopian society, where everyone is happy, disease is nonexistent, and strife, anger, or sadness is unheard of. Only happiness exists. But when confronted with Aldous Huxleys Brave New World, we come to realize that this is not, in fact, what the human soul really craves. In fact, Utopian societies are much worse than those of today. In a utopian society, the individual, who among others composes the society, is lost in the melting pot of semblance and world of uninterest. The theme of Huxleys Brave New World is community, identity, and stability. Each of these three themes represents what a Brave New World society needs to have in order to survive. According to the new world controllers, community is a result of identity and stability, identity is a part of genetic engineering, and stability is what e veryone desires to achieve. These themes are represented in the book by the symbolic meaning of the phrase Children are from bottles and the hypnotic phrase Everybody belongs to everybody else. For a better understanding it is useful to explore these themes in detail. Community refers to the thought of one whole unit. Everyone is connected, by their actions toward each other in every day life, sexual desires, and what they do to remove the feeling of horrible emotions. This connectedness and lie, and its effects can be seen in the character of Bernard, a person who hates what society has become. The year is A.F. 632 (After Ford; Ford is the equivalent to God in Brave New World and with the available technology, citizens are mass produced. But have an underlying theme in common. The stability of this brave new world is centered on the loss of individualism. This theme in represented in the book by the symbolic meaning of the phrase Children are from bottles and the hypnotic phrase Ev erybody belongs to everybody else In this novel, we confronted by a man, named Bernard, who seems to cherish and crave individualism. In Brave New World, every member of society is genetically engineered and conditioned to believe that, â€Å"when the individual feels, the community reels.† Yet Bernard speaks with individualistic ideas that are unheard of in this society molded around the loss of being a unique person. Bernard’s friend, Helmholtz Watson is also one who threatens the utopia of Brave New World. Huxley explains the friendship of the two men: â€Å"What the two men shared was the knowledge that they were individuals.† They are the only characters that openly discuss their personal ideas. Ideas that in a sense are considered sinful in their society. In the end Bernard and Helmholtz are ejected from society by being shipped off to some foreign island so that they will finally be free to expose their individualism. The settings of Brave New World only offer a choice between cultured slavery and primitiveness. Of the characters in Brave New World few have a mind of their own and most are not able to do things on their own. People exist to voice ideas or to manifest them in their behavior Through mass production of people, individualism is lost. In Brave New World, all of the people are products of mass production. â€Å"Racks upon racks of numbered test tubes.† 5 is the only way to describe them before their actual birth. They have no family to give them a background different from anyone else’s. They all come from the same green bottles. Even when they are born, all they are given is a name chosen out of a small group of common names. In our world, having a name is one of the millions of ways we use to tell people apart and give them a feature unique to themselves. The frequency of having the same name with so many other people, takes away from a person’s individuality. Sometimes, â€Å"ninety-six identical twins† 7 are produced. Having ninety-six people looking exactly the same has the same effect as having the same name, but to a much greater extent. In Brave New World, as children, the people go through what they call â€Å"hypnopaedic conditioning†. This is a process in which a phrase of moral value is repeated over and over in their sleep until they live by it. This is their form of religion because this conditioning instills the people’s values. They are taught phrases such as, â€Å"when the individual feels, the community reels† 70. The individuals are taught to believe that they community is more important than the individual. They are trained to live in total identification with society and to shun all activities that threaten the stability of the community. A second example of how â€Å"hypnopaedic conditioning† shows loss of individualism is that if a person belongs to everyone else, and then he is not able to make the choice of belonging. Bernard is disgusted by the thought of having anyone he says, referring to sexual relations with women. Bernard is longing for a sense of individuality which he cannot posses in Brave New World. He emerged with a self-consciousness intensified to the pitch of agony. He is utterly miserable, and perhaps it is his own fault (86). Thereby jeopardizing the stability of the community as a whole, near the end, it was decided that he be banished to the Falkland Islands, so that he could not tell anyone else of his individuality. In Brave New World community is upheld and reinforced at any and all costs. Identity is the one thing that no one person can experience. There is no individual identity in Brave New World. There is only a collective identity, which is shared by all members of society. Collective Identity is achieved by forcing everyone in society to conform. It is maintained in society by making someone who has any individuality feel different almost as an outcast. But sometimes as in the case of the character Bernard, people in Brave New World long for their own identity. For example, Bernard was having feelings and thoughts he is not proud of, Did you ever feel you had some sort of extra power, Bernard said to a friend while talking secret (69). The extra power Bernard is referring to is, individuality. This shows that as much as the world controllers try to rob people of their individuality, it cannot be taken away that easily. Stability is a third of these three goals, but it is the one most mentioned in the book. The world is stable now. People are happy; theyre blissfully ignorant of passion and old age; theyre so conditioned that they practically cant help behaving the way they ought to behave (226). The desire for stability requires the production of large numbers of genetically identical humans, because people who are exactly the same are less likely to come into conflict. Stability is seen in Brave New World to minimize conflict, risk, and change. S etting plays a particularly important role in Brave New World. The novel opens about six hundred years in the future. Civilization as people know it has ended. There has become a new world state, an all-powerful government headed by ten world controllers. Almost all traces of the past have been erased. Faith in Christ has been replaced by faith in the community. The cross has been replaced by the T, and My Life and Work has replaced the bible. Religion like genuine learning thrives on sacrifices and passions, which are impossible in a standardized superficial world with its cheap department store happiness. But some parts of the world were allowed to remain the same. For example, the savage reservation, the New Mexican home of the Zuni Indians. It is a world away from civilization; the Zunis are still threatened by disease, filth, and religion. These savages were people of the old regime, living not, according to science but to nature, kept behind fences lest they contaminate the bl essed, and yet not exterminated because their blind state could serve a perpetual moral. What Huxley thought to be an overdone look at the future dictatorships turned out to be no were as brutal as real life. Suddenly, the story of Brave New World did not seem so much like fiction as it did a window to the future.† That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.† It is this willingness of man to make the same mistake twice that in 2000 the ideas in Brave New World do not seem that far off base. Most people thought that with the collapse of the Soviet Union it would put an end to the suffering and an all-controlling government. But with an influx of clones, test tube babies, government controls of television, needless violence, and the search for the perfect mood altering drug. Who is to say that Brave New World is not earth in fifty years? As more people lose their individuality they become c onnected with community. It is with this connection that they begin to let others control their lives and humanity is already headed in that direction. Brave New World should not only be seen as a great piece of science fiction. It should be seen as a warning. Of what can happen when people live up to the influence of outside sources. Hershey Company

Hershey Company Introduction Hershey Company is a US food company which was incorporated in 1894 and based in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The company specializes in production, distribution, sale and marketing of various confectionaries including chocolate, snacks, beverage enhancers, and other refreshments (Bilbrey, 2011).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Hershey Company specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The company enjoys a good market share in the United States and internationally. Its distribution channels include food brokers, sales representatives, wholesalers, and grocery stores, vending companies, departmental stores and convenient stores. The initial company’s strategy was production and sale of cheap, high quality products. This has been the company’s reputation for decades and has been its distinguishing factor. The founders of the company believed in quality products as a sales strategy instead of advertising. Her shey Company has grown to become a global market leader in confectionaries. Unlike many of its competitors, who have diversified to other products, Hershey Company has decided to concentrate and specialize in chocolate. This has enabled the company to create a specific strategy; focus on the significance of flow of materials for their products and generation of high profits. Many of Hershey competitors, like Cadbury and ConAgra, concentrate on wide product portfolios. The companies have diversified their production but have a weak return on assets. On the contrary, Hershey Company has a strong return on assets; this implies that its assets have a better potential and produces higher revenues than its competitors (Alfonso, 2011). Hershey has appreciated the significance of downstream material process flow as an international supply chain. The initial location of its factories was close to local ports. This made it convenient for the company to buy and transport raw materials from ove rseas farmers and distributors (Bilbrey, 2011). Goods, services, and operations management Hershey ensures that it has products on-hand to ensure that it meets the demand of its clients. The company ensures that the volume of sales is high because the profit margin for its products is low. In order to cope with these requirements, the company continues to develop its supply chain management.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! The integral part of the new supply chain design is 111,480M2 distribution centre, near the organizations head office. This centre was predicted to handle over 713 million kilos of products annually (Bilbrey, 2011). Hershey’s product distribution network includes the sales and marketing department that helps the company to maintain high sales throughout th e year. The product distribution network provides superior services to the customers. The distribution network works closely with customers to ensure deliveries are timely and reasonable. The network is coupled with an effective transport from the production lines to distribution centers. Common carriers are used to deliver products from distribution centers to customer’s locations (Reiman, 2006). Hershey changes the quantity weights and subsequent prices of goods as necessary to accommodate the changes in market. The company changes the prices to sustain its competitive environment and its profitability. Change in prices and quantities maintain the consumer values. The company increases the prices to counterbalance the input costs, changes in raw materials, and increase in fuel prices. Other factors include changes in the price of raw materials, transport, employee benefits and other utilities. The company deigns a time lag between the change of price and the effective date of the changed prices (Alfonso, 2011). Forecasting and demand planning style Hershey has a tactical forecasting and demand and planning style. The data that is used for planning is accurate and timely. The accountability for managing forecasting and demand planning is left to employees in close contact with customers. The company’s style is advanced; Hershey has made the process to be integrated and comprises of a wide range of information. The forecast is made timely and in short and timely schedules (Reiman, 2006). The process is strategic; the company has brought together sales forecasting and demand forecasting. The company focuses on accuracy of the information. The style is innovative; Hershey has a two-way sales forecasting and demand planning procedure. The employees involved are well equipped to plan and manage the process.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Hershey Company specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Accurate focusing of demand allows Hershey to reduce the requirements for emergency plans and associated costs. Hershey experiences efficient operations, improved customer connections and decreased money tied in inventories (Hockley Ali, 2008). Hershey has a monthly plan for balancing supply and demand by ensuring there is a cross-functional relationship of operations. The company has set the platform for sales and operations planning. The company aligns its expectations across the entire operations in the organization. Hershey settles its operation plans with financial plans to ensure it satisfies the demands of the company in a financially feasible manner. The company’s marketing strategy is a strong brand, superior quality and product innovation. Hershey devotes significant resources to development and marketing of new products. The company has initiated several advertising promotional strategies for clients. The company’s sales are particularly high in the las t three months of the year; this is the holiday season. Value chains management Hershey noticed the need for a more manageable design in value chains. In the current chain, products are obtained from producers and shifted to a more central place where customer purchases are managed and satisfied. The first step to restructuring movement of materials was to carefully evaluate the client demands information obtained. Hershey started with their biggest clients like Target and Wal-Mart. The organization checked out carefully the historical information and objectives in areas such as distribution time, quantity, and how the items should be distributed. This procedure also included a more fully developed incorporation into client personalized software. Since chocolate has a periodic need based on vacations, huge purchase amounts during the year had to be included and expected. This data was essential to understand what the client required and then how best to create their new distribution structure (Bilbrey, 2011). To achieve the anticipated profits, the company determines the true costs of products. By applying good analysis, the company is able to evaluate the costs associated with business; this maintains the company’s competitive advantage and profit margins. Hershey concentrates on pricing its products and evaluating the costs associated with raw materials and labor (Bilbrey, 2011).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Hershey’s ability to generate high profitability compared to its competitors is directly associated with supply chains and performance in production of its products. Margin gains counterbalance the high costs of labor and raw materials. Hershey’s inventory and accounts payable continue to decrease and therefore, the net trading capital continues to reduce. Hershey expects to continue maintaining low inventories. Hershey’s business model is based on seasons; pre-holiday and holiday seasons are accompanied by huge volumes of orders. Measurement of performance in operations Hershey Company introduced an improved performance management system in 2009. This system is used by the company to measure its annual operations performance. Hershey measures the performance of all its employees. The system is designed to support engagement and accountability of employees. Employees are appreciated and rewarded for their maintaining the corporate vales of the company (Bilbrey, 2011). Hershey Company collects data periodically and prepares reports regarding individual, departmental and organizational performance. Information used to measure performance includes production process data, organizational strategies, and employees’ performance. The collected information is analyzed against the set standards and corporate strategies. The capability of Hershey to prevail is determined by its performance. The investments and operation parameters are analyzed to determine if they reach the desired targets. Hershey applies a statistical model to measure the performance of its operations. Employees are assessed on their ability to meet the company’s goals. Performance assessments are carried out and the employees are rewarded for their individual contributions to success of the company. Individual development plans are included in the performance management plans to enable workers to identify their professional and individual goals. Surveys are conducte d occasionally to assess the performance of the employees, individually and professionally. From the beginning, Hershey has appreciated the significance of downstream material process flow as an international supply chain. The initial location of its factories was close to local ports. This made it convenient for the company to buy and transport raw materials from overseas farmers and distributors. Raw materials imported from outside the US included cocoa beans and sugar. However, milk was supplied by local farmers and distributors (Bilbrey, 2011). Operation strategy Hershey’s operation strategy is having a profound understanding of the needs of the company’s customers and stakeholders. The company ensures that the stakeholders develop a desire to work with the company and understand all the operations. Good understanding between the company and the stakeholders creates a good environment for business. Good understanding between the company and the consumers makes it e asier to understand the consumer’s needs and change in preferences. Hershey’s efforts to understand and improve the social and environmental performance of operations are in line with the company’s corporate strategy; the company’s consideration of stakeholder’s interests ensures its long term profitability (Bilbrey, 2011). The major operational strategies for Hershey Company include creating a sustainable and a competitive business model. The company continues to emphasize on cost profile management to avail margin structure and resources for business investment. The company drives inexorable emphasis on conventional and profitable development in the US by ongoing investment in Hershey’s brands and capabilities. The company delivers consumer driven and economically feasible innovations. Product innovations are created in consultation with stakeholders and consumer’s preferences. This improves the company’s position in the majo r development areas in confectionary industry. The key growth areas emphasized by the company include a strong and competitive global position in sugar confections, and production of healthy products. The company aims at improving its market presence in Mexico, Canada, China and other available international markets. The company seeks to have a more aggressive approach to acquisition and mergers in the US and globally. The company continues to provide a superior value propositions to its employees; the company focuses on training, talent retention and motivations (Alfonso, 2011). Inventories management Hershey Company has a department of inventory management where finished products inventories are managed and controlled. Inventories are managed in relation to marketing of products across all stock keeping. The department analyzes the sudden alteration in available inventory in an appropriate manner. The bases of changes are found and appropriate actions are taken. The department ide ntifies the items to sustain the surge strategy and provides its feedback to all stakeholders (Bilbrey, 2011). Inventory management monitors the changing items to ensure a proficient physical and systematic flow of products and in the system. The inventory management ensures its accessibility and supportability issues are availed to all suitable areas. The inventory management accommodates periodic builds properly by using system settings and disengages settings when the period is over. The company has overcome the challenge of rising prices of raw materials including milk, sugar and cocoa. Hershey’s global supply chain transformation program which commenced in 2007 has helped the company to increase in productivity and to improve in performance. The objective of the program was to extensively augment production capacity utilization. This was achieved by reducing the total number of production lines (Hockley Ali, 2008). A flexible production operation was constructed in Mexi co; the facility is improving production. Hershey has closed some of its facilities and is focusing on the few improving the supply chain efficiency. The company has invested in inventory optimization tools; this has enabled Hersey to achieve inventory reduction in procurement and product distribution. Closing of some facilities has enabled the company to concentrate on the existing facilities; this has enabled the company to perform well in productivity within the supply chain. The Social Theory of Decentering

The Social Theory of Decentering Decentering is a way of understanding the world in its social and psychological aspects that holds that there is no single way to read an event, or institution, or text. Gathering varied experiences from many individuals produces greater fidelity, such that an explanation of an event based on a decentered approach will acknowledge many different interpretations from many different individuals. In Relation to Technology The explosion in social media in the second decade of the 21st Century has been a boom to the theory of decentering. For example, the events of the so-called Arab Spring following the popular revolution in Egypt in 2011 played out vividly on Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking sites. The multiplicity of voices and viewpoints created a wide field of data for understanding not just the facts of the events, but their underlying meaning to a cross-section of Middle Eastern people. Other examples of decentering could be seen in popular movements in Europe and the Americas. Groups like 15-M in Spain, Occupy Wall Street in the United States, and Yo soy 132 in Mexico organized similarly to the Arab Spring on social media. Activists in these groups called for greater transparency of their governments and teamed up with movements in different countries to address common problems all over the world, including the environment, health, immigration, and other important issues. In Relation to Crowdsourcing Crowdsourcing, the process coined in 2005, is another aspect of decentering as it relates to production. Instead of outsourcing work to a determined group of laborers, crowdsourcing relies on the talents and perspectives of an undefined group of contributors who often donate their time or expertise. Crowdsourced journalism, with its multiplicity of viewpoints, has advantages over traditional writing and reporting because of its decentered approach. Decentering Power One effect of social decentering is the opportunity it presents to expose aspects of power dynamics that remained previously hidden. The exposure of thousands of classified documents on WikiLeaks in 2010 had the effect of decentering official government positions on various events and personages, as the secret diplomatic cables about them were made available for all to analyze.

Comparison Between Two Films Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Comparison Between Two Films - Assignment Example As most of the world, particularly the U.S., was trying to overlook the threat posed by the Germans and the discrimination of the Jews, Charlie Chaplin and the rest of the actors spoke up loudly against the discrimination in a humorous way (Maland 34). What makes these two films similar is the fact that they were both comedies that used humor to uncover and condemn the faults in the German political system. This paper will analyze two scene from each film and compare them to the other in aspects of their narrative structure (themes, characters and acting) and cinematography. On the second scene of the film, we observe the main actors of the last show, Joseph and Maria Tura, now acting in Hamlet. The two chat, and Joseph tries to convince Maria that he truly loves and adores her (Eyman 2). When he enters her room, he becomes overly jealous when he realizes that she has gotten flowers from a secret admirer for the third day in a row. After Joseph leaves the room, Maria informs her maid that she is sure they are from the attractive aviator, but reassures the maid that she too loves her husband, but he becomes offended by such small things. From this scene, we can see that Marias attitude appears to be that of a careless female who enjoys taunting men and making her spouse overly jealous. She appears to have few good motivations in life other than to be admired and loved (Eyman 2). Even as the movie continues, we observe that Maria only grows and matures when her country is in danger. Joseph, on the other hand, acts like a silly, haughty man when we initial ly see him. They have numerous passionate, but childish, arguments with Maria as they act, which makes us unsure of their matrimonial. Joseph becomes overly jealous and angry after and instead of acting like a gentleman, he turns into a raving lunatic for a while (Eyman 3). The central theme in this scene is

Use the knowledge gleaned from this course to write an opinion piece( Assignment

Use the knowledge gleaned from this course to write an opinion piece( using microeconomic insights) on any topic of your choice - Assignment Example These units include separate households, microbusinesses, or persons (Morath). Education, health, infrastructure are all sectors that employ aggressively and so need the minimum wage for the overall peaceful and fair management of remuneration standards. The concept of minimum wage bears innumerable progressive and adverse impacts on industries, kinfolks, and individual employees. In the business world, it presents far reaching effects on the management and success of commercial entities. Organizations that employ a big number of employees who tend to be unskilled are normally greatly affected. The reason is that these companies occasionally face tremendous increases in their budget for wage coverage as a result of actualization of the minimum wage. A significant factor is that companies get no capability to negotiate what they feel is commensurate to pay their low cadre employees. Consequently, industries that employ untrained labor experience significant deterioration in their profit limits (Morath). On the other hand, their operating expenditure surges. A challenge to their inclusive economic growth becomes visible. A new dimension is then introduced to their economic methodology of crafting strategies and policies. On homegrown employment, several companies view the minimum wage as an extraordinary financial commitment to the untrained staff. Mitigating the aspect requires that the companies resort to introducing unfavorable conditions in the approaches they employ in hiring people. In some cases, the companies make a choice to cease employing unskilled labor totally. The resultant implication of this move to the overall performance of the economy is obvious. The employment opportunities that require the use of the minimum wage suit the young adults who probably are just leaving school. However, every increase of the minimum wage normally automatically leads to a lesser youth being absorbed

The Historical Biography of Martin Luther

It is obviously important to note that society has evolved and that the issues of the sixteenth century although dictated by time are not all that different than what our schools face today. There may not have been a separation of church and state but there was a need for educational reformation. â€Å"It is sometimes forgotten that the Reformation was as much concerned with school as it was with church and home. Appreciating the role of education in directing church and society back to the source of the Christian faith, the reformers were committed to the schooling of the young. (Faber, 1998) There is no doubt that Martin Luther appreciated the structured approach of schools since one of his first official acts as a reformer was an attempt to convert existing monasteries schools. â€Å"For Luther, of course, education was grounded in the study of Scripture, a study that was to take place both within homes and schools. Committed by the First Amendment to separation of church and state and to freedom of religious expression, pluralistic America of the twenty- first century is very different from Luther†s Germany of the sixteenth century. (Harran, 2004) Many of the underlying foundation of the modern public schools systems around the world owe a great deal to the sixteenth century Reformation and Martin Luther. â€Å"In home, school, church, and community, fostering that awareness and understanding is the purpose of education and the responsibility of educators. No challenge is more urgent than empowering young people courageously to step into the stream of human events, refusing to stand upon the shore as bystanders. (Harran, 2004) Who better to use as a scholar for this particular work. I believe that Martin Luther would agree with the notion that our graduates should not only have a desire for collaboration, but should also strive to develop the bonds within a school†s collaborative learning environment. Luther lived in a time where only the wealthy or well connected received an education. This class isolationism went against the philosophies of today where diversity and interdependent social cultures strive to exist. In opposition to those who saw education as the privilege of only a few, Luther argued vociferously for compulsory education for all, recognizing the value of each individual before God. In an age in which only a few could afford to attend school and women received little if any education, Luther eloquently argued for expanding educational opportunities. † (Harran, 2004) Luther believed that a universal educational opportunity offered more to society and that mass education would be more advantageous because of the fact that it offered more collaborative opportunities. In the words of Martin Luther, â€Å"My dear sirs, if we have to spend such large sums every year on guns, roads, bridges, dams and countless similar items to insure the temporal peace and prosperity of a city, why should not much more be devoted to the poor neglected youth? † (Harran, 2004) Luther believed that society would benefit if more individuals were given the opportunity to improve themselves and he also seemed to understand that this process should include more collaborative educational methods. I also agree with the idea of collaborative educational methods and goals. I also believe that as teachers, we should promote the idea of students working together so they can learn from one another and at the same time extend their willingness and ability to interact and learning outside of the classroom. Today†s kids need PDA†s and other technology just to keep up with their own and friend†s busy schedules. Between commuting, extra curricular activities and homework, students may find that it is hard to coordinate with their peers. That is why we as teachers must create scenarios that promote togetherness through properly applying classroom settings, the use of technology and sound planning to eliminate the barriers of collaboration. It is a teachers responsibility to create an atmosphere that provides a comfortable setting for contribution by all, enable collaboration without regard to time or place and to help students learn from each other no matter what their diverse backgrounds might be. Luther was an advocate of a well conceived educational process. Writing in times far different than ours, Luther underscored the importance of a curriculum that truly engages young people and that inspires them to a genuine love of learning in all its many forms. † (Harran, 2004) This atmosphere can only occur if the teachers and administrative entities support critical self-reflection by the teachers. Teachers can only provide curriculums that engage if they themselves are up to date in their personal reflections and educations. I also agree with the fact that self awareness, professional development and personal achievement by teachers are areas that are critical to the success of the entire educational process. Professional development for example can be considered important in the realm of critical self-reflection because it is a vital piece of the teaching puzzle. Teachers who evaluate their needs and performance can use professional development opportunities to stay current with the new or available practices in teaching, learning and presentation. Consider that a large number of math teachers simply place far too much influence and credence on outdated text books and techniques. â€Å"Even while educators work to reduce the dominance of text-based learning in mathematics classrooms, publishers and teachers need to explore new modes of publication that will enable good innovative ideas to enter expeditiously into typical classroom practice. † (National Research Council 1989, p. 67) Self reflection will provide opportunities to change. Martin Luther and his reformers were the most social conscious individuals of their time. The reformations that he promoted were basically social justice reformations. Luther believed that the existing class system was not fair and that all classes should receive the opportunity for an education. â€Å"Not only would the state benefit from a reformed education, but also – and especially – the church. † (Faber, 1998) In the sixteenth century, those who could not read or write were forced to learn their religious scriptures form the religiously factions thus putting the poor and uneducated at a distinct disadvantage. Luther promoted that all individuals be educated and therefore eliminate those social injustices. Similar to the unfair class separation of Luther†s times, I believe we must address the social injustices of our times. â€Å"Schools in the United States face a multiplicity of challenges, from gaining adequate funds to hiring well-qualified and dedicated teachers to meeting the ever-increasing obligations of state-mandated testing to determining policy about such complex issues as bi-lingual education. † (Harran, 2004) We today face the distinction of having schools in poor urban areas that have no books, are literally unsafe, have no clean running water and certainly few to no good teachers while less than a mile down there could be an affluent school with a plethora of extras and well manicured lawns. Social justice always boils down to the haves and the have not†s. Consider the differentiation with the technology have line today. Schools that can afford new technology have it in abundance and every child has access to the internet and other educational tools. But, in our urban communities there are whole high schools that may only have five or six computers and those are for administrative applications. Today we are more adept at working with the special needs of race, ethnicity, class, cultural and linguistic diversity, religion, gender, sexuality and special needs. In Martin Luther†s sixteenth century, diversity was focused more on the differences between rich and poor and religious preference was a one way street. So when he wrote or worked to reform the system, he was trying to incorporate those who were considered to be the minorities of their time. Yet, whether the differences were color or religion is not relevant. The key is that there was a need for reform with the existing process just like we have a need for change in our modern day educational process. â€Å"The need for educational reform was urgent at the beginning of the sixteenth century. At that time there existed no school system as such, and teaching was often limited to the children of wealthy merchants and city rulers. In many places the Roman Catholic church supervised the training of the youth in monasteries, cloisters, and other church-run institutions. But these were falling into disrepute and disrepair, as the populace reacted against the corruption and abuses among the clergy. † (Faber, 1998) Today, research covering the effects of diversity in the classroom show how and why effective teaching can be linked to the ability of instructors to incorporate diversity into their classrooms. These studies repeatedly show that there is a direct correlation between a child†s attitude towards his or her race and ethnic grouping and other cultural groups from as early as the preschool years. In other words, young children develop their stereotypes in the classroom or in the home environment at very early ages. Teachers can therefore help reduce or hopefully even eliminate negative stereotypes by being diversity conscious themselves. Through the use of culturally sensitive class initiatives for example, teachers have an opportunity to establish more positive examples for their students. â€Å"Researchers agree that new models of professional development are needed, and that such models must include a focus on the development of local cultures of interest if they are to be sustainable. (Swan, Vargas, & Holmes, 2004) In conclusion, this paper was on Martin Luther and also my interpretations of his views on the treatise of scholarship and education. From Luther†s point of view, this report attempted to propose possible reforms in the area of curriculum. The report was formatted in the form of an action plan that articulated my personal philosophies of teaching and identified with Martin Luther as my selected scholar. Issues addressed were the educational and conceptual frameworks of collaboration, social justice, diversity and critical self-reflection. Obviously Martin Luther appreciated the structured approach of schools since one of his first official acts as a reformer was to convert existing monasteries into schools. This may even be the underlying foundation of all modern public schools systems around the world. Who could be a better scholar for this particular project. â€Å"There is no denying the huge gap between the sixteenth century and the twenty- first. Luther†s Germany was overwhelmingly Christian; he could look to the state to further the agenda of Christian education, although he insisted that the responsibility for education was not solely, or even primarily, the responsibility of government. We live in a very different world from that of Luther. The United States is rich in cultural and religious diversity, and, from an early age, children experience that diversity and multiplicity of religious traditions and values in school and community. † (Harran, 2004)

The As A Practical Handbook For Christians - 2461 Words

INTRODUCTION Relational associations are typically pointed out between Jesus and God the Father, but often overlooked is the fact that Jesus had brothers. The brothers of Christ, or half-brothers, were used greatly by God and went on to do many great things in His name. One such brother of Jesus was named James, and he became a great leader in the name of Christ. He was not always a Christ-follower and his relationship with Jesus began in a strained state. He did not accept Christ until after the resurrection of Jesus. Through an encounter with the Holy Spirit, and his newfound belief in Christ, James became the leader of the Christian church. He advised many characteristics regarding the church and imparted insight to the description of the bride of Christ in Acts as well. James even authored an Epistle is recognized as a practical handbook for Christians. The book of James describes practical truths concerning wisdom and working faith. Shortly after completing this book, the active and public role that James took in Jerusalem’s church eventually led to his martyrdom. According to the writings of Josephus, he was accused by the High Priest and given the opportunity to renounce his faith. James the Just serves as a great example to all Christians, for when he was sentenced and given the opportunity to recant his faith, he refused and consequently was stoned. This outcome and heroic stand made for Christ, seems unlikely when examining the life of James before theShow MoreRelatedAn Evaluation Of The Course Review828 Words   |  4 Pagescharacterizations as they felt that it should be considered automatically adhered to each and every facet involving the research in its entirety.
